I'm Still Here! I Still Blog!

Hi guys! It certainly has been a while, doncha' say. I'm sorry for my unannounced absence but it's been really hard for me to balance all of my commitments lately. Between work and school and ventures in creating, it left me barely any time to blog. While I do love blogging, I realize that I can't sacrifice my grades or my precious sleep in order to post a new recipe or a new outfit. So while my presence won't be as prominent on IAS as it was during the summer, I will try extra hard to provide you guys with some fun new posts.

But aside from that, work and school have been going great! I hit a rough patch in school where I would get home at 10:30 from work and then be too tired to do anything (including homework) and I started to psych myself out. But winter break has really given me a lot of time to relax and think about my priorities.

I hope to be talking to y'all soon. I'm gonna head over to University of Hawaii tomorrow to visit my dearest Jackie and cook her some chicken alphabet soup so hopefully I can take a few pictures and share them with you guys.

Until next time,
A

P.S. Take two moments to listen to this song. It's the best.

Dropping In

Hello friends, I'm just dropping in to see how y'all are doing. I am now on fall break which is awesome except my fall break will be spent doing homework and working which is not as great. At least I won't have to wake up at 5 every morning. Now I am just anxiously awaiting all of my final grades for quarter one and then I may be able to relax just a little. We'll see. And as for the blog, I hope to be posting some cooking stuff soon. Let's see if the parentals permit me to ruin the kitchen.

Until next time,
A

I Am A Tomato And I Love It

These Boots Were Made For Walking

Hey guys, just wanted to pop in and say hello. I found my camera so be expecting more posts with better photos that aren't from instagram or VSCO :3 My mom bought me these boots for my birthday and I absolutely love them, so naturally I wear them in the summer. Who cares about dressing seasonally? Not me.

Have a great weekend!

Being Happy Etc.

I have so many projects that I want to start and even more that I have to finish, but busy is a good feeling. I've been researching colleges (actually, only one) more and more and I have my heart set on Fashion Institute of Technology. I know I just started my junior year in high school but nothing has ever felt more... perfect for me. I want an associates degree in advertising and marketing communications and a bachelors in fabric styling. I know things change and the mind of Alissa in two years may not want what my current mind does, but I like having plans and this is a good plan for this Alissa, right now. I just want to have this post here as a kind of reminder of the excitement I'm feeling, being so sure about something that really would be a hit or miss kind of study. Like really, Alissa? Fabric styling? Oh, you silly girl. You won't have much fabric to style living under a bridge in the ghettos of New York. I've never thought a career in the fashion industry would be sensible, so I always pushed it to the back of my mind. But while it may not be sensible, it is right for me. The heart wants what the heart wants, and this heart wants to be happy. So, when I'm looking back at this post when I am 40 and a banker in a small town in Washington I'll know that at one point in my life when money didn't matter, I was willing to just be happy. And that's always a good feeling. Happiness.

Until next time,

Wanderlust

Even though my sister has moved out of the house and into her dorm, I still like to bug her. This a little bit of short footage from one of our adventures. Old spaghetti Factory with my family + Jackie (who is pretty much my sister) and a special dorm tour.

I'm going to be there quite often.

Until next time,

Hello Again, Friend of a Friend (An Instagram/Life Update)

LONG TIME NO SEE, MY BLOGGING COMPADRES. I have missed blogging, definitely. But once summer really got going, I was having too much fun galavanting around in the real world to blog. And then school started and I was too busy tearing out all my hair from stress (I took a test in AP Psychology and found that my stress level is dangerously high. I need more  bubble baths and less caffeine.) So now I will update you on my life happenings as of late, and throw around an empty promise stating that I will blog on the regs. This time I hope I mean it.

1. My family from Oregon visited for a week for my sisters graduation party! I loved having them here and the beach house they rented was wicked (the picture shown is the kitchen. MANY MORE PICTURES TO COME.) I can't wait to have them all back.
2. I had to go to the Emergency Room for the first time since elementary school. I caught the flu and ended up with a terribly high fever (at that point it was up to 103.7) and I could not stop vomiting. I got an IV which was mega cool and started feeling better almost immediately. They fed me ice chips :3
3. Tried this whole turban trend for the first time. I'm still unsure about my feelings concerning this piece of fabric wrapped around one of the sweatiest parts of my body.
4. Baked COOKIESSSS.
5. Bought a very pretty dress (my new favorite) from my BFFFFFFF Jackie's garage sale!
6. And alas, the start of school. I have only been in school for 2 and a half weeks now and I've already stayed up until 2 studying. I LOVE EDUCATION!!!
7. Journalism journalism journalism. I shot a football game on Saturday. My favorite part is always going through the photos afterwards and finding that one gem where the players tackled each other in such an intimate fashion that you just have to giggle a bit.

Welp, that has been pretty much it in regards to my life lately. I will try with all my might to start posting more AWESOME things on soon. I have several recipes and sewing projects that I wouldn't mind sharing with y'all.

Until next time,
A

Honest To Blog: Juggling

You may or may not have noticed the silence over the past week here on It's Always Sunny, and that is completely and totally my fault. I started this blog during a time in my life where I wanted to take on millions of things. I wanted to start a blog like the ones that I read everyday, I wanted to have an online store, a job, great grades in school, time for friends, and pretty much to conquer the world. Now I'm even trying my hand at a graphic design internship for a sports website. It really is wonderful that I have taken this all on and I'm so sure it will pay off, but for now I know that I have to prioritize.

School is always first for me. Always always always. Then will come my internship, job, friends, business, and the blog. I have all these ideas for IAS, but I need to make sure I tend to all the other responsibilities I took on first. I want to have some quality posts for you guys, not just things I threw together because I was busy sewing or working or something. I want the work on here to represent me, and half-butting it is not going to cut it.

The picture above really made me realize though, that it is not going to come easy. I am going to have to do a lot of work if I want to accomplish everything that I planned on. That's just what I'm going to do.

So now I realize that I may have been foolish in promising posts every day on IAS, but what I can promise is that when I do post things, it will be real quality stuff, yo. I swear,

Now, I have to go finish up some things for my sisters graduation party. I will see you all SOON.

Until next time,
A

A Terrible Attempt at Vlogging

Yesterday, I went on the best adventure of my life. With Reagan and her Acid-Reflux, and April. First we went thrifting at Goodwill. Then we went to eat lunch at a random location, 49-er Cafe. Then shave ice at Ice Garden. Then Target. Then Byron's Drive-in for deep fried Oreos. Then to a cool comic book/ record store, Jelly's. And a craft store. Basically, we covered the entire island. This is a vlog of our wonderful adventures. The quality is terrible in both the audio and visuals department, but hey it's the content that counts.

I hope you all get to go on awesome adventures this summer, too. Have a great Saturday!

Until next time,

Fire Trucks and Fathers Day

Today after 4 games of excruciatingly boring and tiring (I HAVE BRUISES ON MY FINGERS) games of bowling, I went to the fire station to visit my dad at work! Here are some tidbits from today's adventures...

I feel pretty lucky to be able to do these kinds of things with my family. I've grown up going to help cook dinner at the station, becoming closer with other firefighter's families, and watching my dad go from a banker to a firefighter; something he truly loves.
I've always thought I was destined to ivy league colleges and pursuing majors that are of little to no interest to me, purely because it was good money and what would make my parents proud. But then I think of the poster we still have hanging by our front door, with little checked off boxes that symbolized how many days my dad had left in training for the fire department. I think of getting up at 6 in the morning to watch the Country Music Channel with him and letting him practice bandaging on my arms or legs or little noggin. I think of standing outside with him as I read off steps on a sheet of paper that were supposed to help him with studying for some sort of firefighter promotion test.
Thinking about all these things made me realize that if I truly love something, then money should be no object. As long as I love doing it and I try my best, my parents will be proud of me. Just like we were so proud of my dad upon graduating recruit class.

Happy Fathers Day, daddy. Thank you for teaching me the importance of doing what you love, not just what is expected of you. *And I really hope you don't read this with me sitting right behind you or something. That's embarrassing.*

Until next time,
A

Life Lately

Hello hello hello! I have been quite occupied lately and it feels AWESOME. Being a busy bee is always much more fun than sitting on the couch eating potato chips all day. Here's whats been happening in my life lately.

1. I finally organized my closet and chose some old clothes to sell to friends or donate. It was nice to get all the old things out so there was room for all my new thrifty finds :3
2. Ripping shoulder pads out of some vintage clothes was the beginning of a long process of getting Sweetie Pie Vintage up and running. I am making progress here. I swear.
3. Threw out the old broken sewing machine and moved this baby into it's new nook. No more sewing on the floor and kitchen table, thank goodness.
4. Working on some projects for the blog and store. I experimented with a bow tie that I'll need to get a clip for or some black elastic to attach it to for a headband. Hooray for finding tons of fabric to work with whilst cleaning.
5. Found an amazing spaceship print on a horrid halter dress at Savers, so I cut and sewed into a bodycon skirt. I love love love it.
6. LUNCH. Because even busy 16 year olds have to take a break sometimes. Now, for a toasted tuna sammich. I'M TRYING TO BE HEALTHY HERE.

You guys can follow me on instagram @alissadeli if you feel so inclined. I try to keep it updated, but it's hard to do with my first generation iPhone. Which I can't even use as a phone. I'm really into the technology scene, guiseeee. Have a great Sunday and I will see y'all tomorrow with a new feature: Music Monday!

Until next time,

It Is My Birthday Today

It's official, guys. I am 16. I am one year older than 15. Two years older than 14. 15 years older than 1. I am  16.

I was going to make a combined outfit/ birthday post to make up for my sucky planning yesterday. But me being me, I decided to wear a t-shirt and jeans today. While it is a nice owl t-shirt that is my absolute favorite, I figured it would be even more neat if I did one with the things I got for my birthday! So that will be happening eventually. I promise this time. I really do.

For now though, I am going to go smell some pretty lotion my friend Nikki got for me and put on some REALLY AWESOME lipstick my friend Tess got for me. Holla to you gurls, luv ya.

Until next time,
A

Blog Planning (Or So I Thought...)

Blog planning at 11 at night. Good idea Alissa. Nothing could go wrong there. Nothing.

So, if you can read that chicken scratch in the above photo, you would see that I was supposed to do an Outfit of the Day today. However, I neglected to remember that I AM SORT OF LAZY. I do not get dressed until 11. On a good day. And my favorite blogs have everything posted for the day by morning time. So obviously that was not going to work today. So instead, I will explain all the features that I hope to have on this blog in the near future.
  • Outfit of the Days
  • Trend Watch
  • DIYs
  • Favorite World Wide Web Finds
  • Favorite Thrifty Finds
  • Music Mondays
  • Food Bloggin' cause I LOVE FOOD
  • And just general lifestyle things

I plan on posting every day or every other day over the summer. Depends on how busy I am between summer school, summer homework, Sweetie Pie Vintage, and applying for a real job (which I will hopefully get.) But for now, let's just stick to this plan. Since I'm already off to a rough start.

Until next time,
A

"It's just about June. I should start a blog."

Basically my reasoning for starting this baby. I always put things off time and time again. But this time, I told myself, IT'S ALMOST JUNE, DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR LIFE. So I did. I made a blog. To go along with my store. Both of which will hopefully be fully functioning by the time I start school in August.

For now, I will draft ideas of what I can do with this thing to make it interesting and cry about how many people won't read it. Even though I'm pretty funny and crafty. That's what I tell myself.

Until next time,
A
